Education for teenagers

Education is a fundamental element to escaping the cycle of poverty. The freedom that comes with education is

imperative to these children building a life away from the streets.

ACCV will fund both accelerated English classes and Vocational courses  for children of Friendship Home

and we also have a commitment to assist teenagers who would otherwise have no resources to further their

education. Each child we deal with has individual needs and we endeavour to address these needs on a case

by case basis.

Currently we are working with a number of teenagers to help turn their lives around. For some, we will simply

finance their school fees and assist them in actually staying at school. Without financial support, they would

have to discontinue their education and go to work.

There is a blind seventeen year old boy for whom we are hoping to find a residential programme to learn

Braille and a trade or skill. Another bright young man works 14hrs per day, seven days a week at a ‘Bia Hoi’

(street pub) he sleeps on the floor or tables there and earns about $50 per month, most of which he

sends home to a poor rural community for his family. He would love to be an electrician!

We are intending to find him a course and cover his accommodation and living expenses while he studies.

At this stage we are looking at various options that are available for these and other teenagers we have in t

he pipeline, delightful young people who can really benefit from our help.

Your donation makes a lasting difference to the lives of these children and provides them with the sort of

opportunities that we believe should be the basic entitlement of all children!
